I Can Not Come Down

132_Comedown.jpg

Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: "Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono." But they were scheming to harm me; so I sent messengers to them with this reply:

"I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?” Nehemiah 6:2-3

Here we have the account of Nehemiah building up the walls of Jerusalem which had been broken down for many years. Two evil men, Sanballat and Geshem tried to get him to stop the work and come down from the wall and talk with them, but they were planning to kill him. They didn’t want this great restoration work on the city of Jerusalem, to continue.

Nehemiah’s reply was, that he was doing a ‘great work’ and couldn’t come down to them.  If he didn’t understand how important this work was that he was doing, he would have ‘downed tools’ and God’s plans would have been terminated.

I see how this can also apply to us in the Church today. The walls of God’s city have lain waste for centuries and God wants them to be rebuilt again. He has placed prophetic workers on the walls of the His Church for this very purpose. Some of the workers are ‘hands on’ and others are more involved in the spiritual side of things, like prophecy, intercession and encouragement. The trouble is there are more ‘hands on’ than there are the ‘prophetic,’ so the enemy is able to hinder the work.

Its like it was when Moses who was on the mountain top overlooking the battle against the Amalekites. When he kept his hands up over the battle the Israelites won, but when he let them down, Israel began to lose the battle. His was a prophetic ministry while Joshua and his army were more hands on. The victory was not just dependent on Joshua and his army, but Moses in the Spirit realm.

“So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.” Exodus 17:10-13

Many today are tiring in the battle and leaving their posts high up on the walls of prayer to go down and embrace the negative non productive words of the enemy. There aren’t many today who can see the ‘Big Picture,’ and what God’s plans are for the End Times.

Many Christians are thinking like the Gentiles think and aren’t really concerned with the Kingdom of God and His desire to restore the Church to its former glory. God’s plan is for the restoration of all the things that have been lost in the Church.

“I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the LORD, give yourselves no rest,” Isaiah 62:6

God has given some Christians a burden to prophesy and intercede that God would do what He said He would do and build up the walls of His Church once more. When this vision is embraced you are high up on the walls of prayer speaking the word out prophetically into the Spirit realm. Unfortunately there are many voices from the enemy that keep whispering or shouting in our ears that we are just wasting our time and need to come down.

The need is not so much to beg God to do something, but confessing what He has said He would do already.  Speaking out the word over the Church until breakthrough comes. The word of God is like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces. Sometimes you have to hit a rock 1000 times before it breaks. Each time you hold fast your confession over a situation the rock weakens and eventually it will shatter.

Some of the voices we hear, whisper that God’s plans are not that great for the Church’s future and we just need to face the facts that the Church is falling away, so just hang in there and keep the faith until the end. Other voices say that we must leave things alone and let God build the Church Himself, our prayers make no difference. Others say “give up and come down to ground level and just think and live like the Gentiles do,” that is a path of least resistance. Without vision the people become weak and perish.

“So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that's where the action is. See things from his perspective.” Colossians 3:2

A staunch intercessor hears the Master’s voice and lives high up on the walls of God where the view is grandiose. He can see afar off and knows what God wants to do in these Last Days. He is not on ground level swamped with all the clutter of this world and market place business. These prophetic people are like Elijah who could hear the rain coming while in prayer even though there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Elijah was high up on Mount Carmel with his servant when he was praying for rain.

And Elijah said to Ahab, "Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain." So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. "Go and look toward the sea," he told his servant. And he went up and looked. "There is nothing there," he said. Seven times Elijah said, "Go back." The seventh time the servant reported, "A cloud as small as a man's hand is rising from the sea." So Elijah said, "Go and tell Ahab, 'Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.'" 1 Kings 18:41-44.

When I personally am high up on the walls of the City of God I can see marvellous things in the Spirit. I see a glorious Church up ahead without spot or wrinkle. I see a river that flows from the throne of God that heals everyone it touches. I see the glory of the End Time Church that is even more glorious than the days of Pentecost. I see Christians doing the same work that Jesus did and even greater things that that. I see multitudes coming into the Kingdom. I see towns and cities coming under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. I see Churches staying open day and night for prayer. I see the presence of God 7 times more powerful than it is right now. I see young people prophesying and having visions. I see the Church falling in love with Jesus and getting free from religion. I see angelic visitations and people being raised from the dead. I see amazing miracles of healing and supernatural provision, just to name a few. I see things that would shock today’s Church, things that they have never been seen or heard of before. Is this what God really plans to do? I believe I have scriptures to prove it that it is so.

Unfortunately so many of us are listening to the Sanballat’s and Geshem’s of the enemy and have stopped thinking and prophesying like this, and have gone down to the Gentile way of thinking. Some have never even seen such things before in the Spirit and regard them as just fairy stories. They prefer to live at ground level, building the kingdoms of this world more than the kingdom of God. Its safer down there and free of risk. Jesus warned of this mindset in His sermon on the Mount.

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:31-34

It’s hard to live high up on the walls of God’s Heavenly Jerusalem praying, praising and prophesying the will of God day and night, declaring the word of the Lord. It’s especially hard when nothing seems to be happening after years of persevering. Remember that Elijah didn’t give up on Mount Carmel after the first time he prayed on his knees. He went on 7 more times until finally a small cloud appeared.

Here are some majestic views from those high on the walls.

I see healings beyond number :

“When it empties into the Sea, the water there becomes fresh. Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds—like the fish of the Great Sea.”  Ezekiel 47:8-10

“But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.” Malachi 4:2

Paul prayed that the Church would be filled up with God Himself. Can you see that happening now and in the future?

“You will know Christ's love, which goes far beyond any knowledge. I am praying this so that you may be completely filled with God.” Ephesians 3:19.

Didn’t Jesus say that we would do the works that He did?

“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12

Do you see the presence of God coming over your home, your town?

“Then the LORD will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy.” Isaiah 4:5

Do you see the enemy being defeated over your town?

“On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; “ Isaiah 25:7

“As they journeyed, there was a great terror upon the cities which were around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.” Genesis 35:5

Do you see your children prophesying?

"And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28

Do you see the Day of God’s Power?

“Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power,” Psalm 110:3

Do you see the strongholds of Satan falling and God’s presence seven Times brighter?

“And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall. Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD binds up the breach of his people, and heals the stroke of their wound.” Isaiah 30:25-26

There is so much God wants to do in these Last Days and He needs His prophetic people like Moses high up on His walls to help bring it to pass. He does nothing without first showing His servants the Prophets what He is doing.

“Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” Amos 3:7.

Stop allowing yourself to be distracted from your great and high calling in the ‘Heavenly Realms” and allowing yourself to be immersed in the Gentile way of thinking. You are doing a great work, believe it.

Even if you don’t see it happen in your lifetime and Jesus tarries, there still needs to be someone handing on the baton to the next generation. May this glorious vision for the End Time Church not die on your watch or in your hands. Keep the vision alive, pass it unto your children. You are doing a great work.
