The God kind of Faith

Mark 11:22-24 tells us that we need to have the ‘God kind of faith’. If you look in the margin of the KJV it says to have ‘the faith of God’, or the ‘God kind of faith’.

“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

Jesus doesn’t want us to continue as spiritual babies all our lives, who just keep crying and crying until their needs are met. He wants us to mature and begin to speak out our faith, believing that what we say shall come to pass. This is a brand new way to live. This is really living by faith.

“but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass;”

When it comes to building muscle, how much weight you lift, is not as important as how many repetitions you do. The more reps, the stronger you become. So it is with your faith. When you face tough times and come through them, you develop the faith needed to handle the next crisis.

As you keep saying what you believe in the face of opposition, its like doing your repetitions over and over again. It builds up your faith.

It’s so important to keep speaking out God’s word declaring those thing that be not as though they were. This is what Abraham did. He called those things that be not as though they were.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23

It’s in tough times that we grow stronger, so we need to keep speaking out what we believe even though the situation doesn’t seem to change. Don’t forget that God is working on you. It may seem pointless and repetitious but that’s the way our spiritual muscles grow. He’s preparing you for your future.

“Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak,” 2 Corinthians 4:13

If you believe a word to be true, then you have to keep speaking it out regardless. Remember the enemy will try and steal that word away from your heart so that you stop saying it. It explains this in the parable of the sower and the seed. The seed that wasn’t properly planted was eaten by the birds that came down.

So many of Gods children give up because nothing seems to be happening right away. We all have times when we are under spiritual attack. These are called an evil day. We must hold our ground in these days.

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13

We may stand when all is going well but falter when the pressure is on. Maybe the symptoms return, or nothing changes straight away so we stop believing and speaking out the word.

Our words are can be forerunners of a future event. We need to believe in what we say and say what we believe.

Father Abraham is a great  example of this. Before the ‘Promised Child’ came, God changed his name from Abram to Abraham which meant the Father of Nations. He would now have to tell people his new name even though he had no children. This was speaking out words of faith.

Every day when he looked in the mirror and at his wife and saw how they were both getting older yet he held on to the promise of having a child. He held fast his confession. He kept up the repetitions every day and eventually saw it all come to pass.

“So, when God told Abraham that he would give him a son who would have many descendants and become a great nation, Abraham believed God even though such a promise just couldn’t come to pass! And because his faith was strong, he didn’t worry about the fact that he was too old to be a father at the age of one hundred, and that Sarah his wife, at ninety, was also much too old to have a baby.

But Abraham never doubted. He believed God, for his faith and trust grew ever stronger, and he praised God for this blessing even before it happened. He was completely sure that God was well able to do anything he promised. And because of Abraham’s faith God forgave his sins and declared him “not guilty.” Romans 4:18-22 The Living Bible

Speaking out God word with confidence is a spiritual exercise that can be likened to repetitions. Confess God’s word over your life especially in those evil days and watch the promises come to pass. Amen
