The Song of Songs- part 7

THE SONG OF SONGS     Part 7 of Practicing His Presence

“The song of songs, which is Solomon's.” S/Songs 1:1 (KJV)

“This is Solomon's song of songs, more wonderful than any other.” (TLB)

King Solomon was the wisest man that ever lived and he penned the Song of Songs. If you were given writings by the wisest man that ever lived, I’m sure you would consider its content to be a cut above the rest. This book is called the Song of all Songs. It’s also called a song more wonderful than any other. So any other song that has been written pales in comparison to this song. Wow, that’s a bold statement. So this song is the ‘Mother of all Songs’!! There have been millions of songs written over the ages about all sorts of things in this world from rivers to cities, animals, love, hate, war and relationships just to name a few. Some have become famous and others are only one minute wonders, but this song claims to be the best of them all.  It’s worth asking, “Why”? All the songs you remember are popular because of their tune rather than their content, but this song has no tune. Sometimes psalms begin with the instructions on what tune they to be sung too, but not this one. This is the greatest song ever written not for its tune but for its content. This song is all about a relationship between a man and a woman, and not just any man or any woman, but a song about the love relationship between Christ and His Bride, the Church. Because this song is the inspired word of God, it’s a living song. It’s a spirit and life song The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63)

“The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. “

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”(Hebrews 4:12)

The secret and uniqueness of this song is that it can be ‘entered into’ and not just sung. It’s for those who are the lovers of God and can become a living experience every day. Just like you can role play into today’s video games, so can you live in this song as one who knows they are loved beyond imagination by God. We are all looking for love and it’s in this song. You can experience it every day, living the dream forever. You become the tune, the song, the life of praise, a sweet incense unto the King, for the Bride’s perfume (praise) draws Him near to her. You’ve got to believe it.

Many theologians believe that when Jesus spoke the worlds into existence, He actually sang them into being. C.S Lewis brings this out in his Narnia series when the Lion, Aslan sings the world into existence. All creation knows this song, for its in their DNA. The tune to the song, the plan of God, the Song of Songs is already there waiting to be awakened. Creation is waiting for this song to be activated and so are you.

“My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me. See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.” (S/S 2:10-13)

It says that God is rejoicing over His People with singing. What song is that?

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”  (Zephaniah 3:17)

For all this to happen in your life there are a few important things that need to know. First of all, you need to have faith, for without it you can’t enter into this song and live the life. You have to know how to call those things that be not as though they were.

“(as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; “(Romans 4:17)

You also have to meditate on the word day and night .

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)

You need to see yourself as part of the song of songs.

“And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; 15 for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.” (Genesis 13:14-15).

If you don’t see it then you can’t experience it, for it’s by faith that you come through the door into this intimate love relationship with Christ. This is why it’s so important to watch what you look at on TV or in movies for they affect your heart and pollute your imagination. I can’t stress this enough. I used to be quite a movie buff and it was something I struggled to give up. When I did, my vision changed and His story, His Song became the delight of my heart. This book is the secret wardrobe into Narnia. It says in the song that there is a secret garden in the heart which we can go to and meet with the King. A Happy Place. It takes a bit of effort to come to this place but in time you can be there in an instance. The Lord gives us the seed of His word which we can plant in our hearts and they grow into this garden. The sooner you realise what He is wanting you to do, you will guard your heart to allow the seed to grow.

The Bride asks to see the King’s face and hear His voice.

“For sweet is your voice and your countenance is comely. (S/S 2:14)

She wants to see Him and hear Him always, for she can’t stand living without Him. She has begun to live off the breath of heaven and oxygen just isn’t enough anymore. These are the qualities of a Bride. There are other women mentioned in this Song who love Him but there is only one woman there who is His Bride.  All the way through these chapters, creation is used to describe the beauty and wonder of the King and vice a versa. It’s as if the whole earth is filled with the glory of the Lord and she sees it and is constantly reminded of Him. Like that song “All kinds of everything remind me of you.” When the Spirit awakens your love for God, life takes on a whole new dimension. You begin to live and breathe God. One day we will be in heaven and God will be everywhere. Our All in All. I don’t think we will be breathing oxygen anymore there, for it will all be His presence. There will also be no shadows, just living light, living colours and living sounds.

“I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Revelation 22:22-27

The wonderful thing is, that we don’t need to wait until we get to heaven for this life to begin, we can live the dream, and sing the song by faith now. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe, those who start walking in the Song by faith now. We are told in the Lord’s prayer.can have days of heaven on earth. When you are in this love relationship with Jesus the world becomes filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord for you and you see Him everywhere.

“That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.” (Deuteronomy 11:21) KJV

“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe, who start walking the song by faith now. We are told in the Lord’s prayer to pray (Matthew 6:10) “thy kingdom come, thy will be done here on earth as it is in heaven,” - now.

When you are in this love relationship with Jesus the world becomes filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord for you and you see Him everywhere.

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”  (Habakkuk 2:14)

Another key to experiencing this song is to depart from those things that are harming your spiritual life. The more you strip off the weights that hinder, the easier it is to experience the dream.

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” (Hebrews 12:1)

“And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.” (Genesis 13:14-15)

“When your eye is single the more you will be filled with light. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.”(Matthew 6:22)

It’s like a magnify glass held at the right position that causes fire to burst forth. You can keep the fire burning in your heart. For years I have longed for God to give me visions, and words of knowledge to help me minister to people. To be a prophetic person. If Balaam the heathen Prophet could say. “I am the man whose eyes are open, hearing the voice of God and having visions of the Almighty.” Then how much more us. I wanted visions and words of knowledge for man but it seemed to be withheld from me. I have fasted often and sort His face to no avail. I now finally believe I have the answer. I believe the Lord has shown me that there is another ministry available at the end of the Age prepared for His Bride. The Bride only has eyes for her King. She sees visions of God. The ultimate vision is of Him and not of a man. We need to have our eyes opened to see Him everywhere and enter into the Song of all Songs. Paul prayed for it in Ephesians.

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,”  Ephesians 1:17-18

We need this spirit of wisdom to ‘know’ him. It says that Moses ‘knew’ God’s ways. The word ‘know’ in Hebrew is ‘yada’ which means to have an intimate relationship with God. This word is the same word used in Genesis 3:1 where Adam ‘knew’ Eve.

“He made ‘known’ his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel:” Psalm 103:7

Moses knew God while the children of Israel only saw God’s works and didn’t know Him. It says in the chapter on faith -

“By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.” Hebrews 11:27

that Moses saw Him who was invisible – God. Those who ‘know’ Him also see the one who is invisible by faith and are changed.

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”  2 Corinthians 3:18

Moses had visions of God that even made his face to shine.  I feel the Spirit say that the end result of pressing in to ‘know’ God as the Bride will be far greater than any power seen in the Church before. The end result will be even more souls saved. The trouble is we can be hungry for God and be more desirous of God’s power than for knowing Him and this is called idolatry. Our God is a jealous lover. When you love Him more than anything in the world, it’s a beautiful thing that He can’t resist and gives you the desires of your heart.

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4.

King David said “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. “Psalm 73:25

When you have this love in your heart every day is your birthday. Every day you are having that song sung over you. “Happy Birthday to you.”

“Let me tell you what God said next. He said, “You’re my son, and today is your birthday. What do you want? Name it: Nations as a present? continents as a prize? You can command them all to dance for you,” (Psalm 2:7-9 )The Message

In the KJV it says ‘today’ I have ‘begotten’ you. Today you have been born - which is your birthday. In this place you can ask God for your town and He will give it to you. Amen. For you have this confidence. Like Esther the Queen coming to the King with her request. Like a child asking for something on their is birthday that won’t be denied. Having a love for God’s word is also very important. Filling your heart and mind with the word for it requires skill to stand before the King.

“Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings;” (Proverbs 22:29)

I don’t believe you can really worship God without the use of the word. With words of scripture concerning praise and worship and what is written in the Song of Songs you can transport yourself from this mundane life into these heavenly places. Don’t forget that seeing God requires a pure heart. For without holiness no man shall see God.

“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14.)
