Do this to Remember me

“Do this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:19

The Lord tells us to have communion and remember all that He has done for on the cross. Break bread and drink the cup in remembrance of Him. In all the distractions of the busy world its good to stop and re focus on what really matters. This is where our true strength comes from.

“And so, dear brothers, now we may walk right into the very Holy of Holies, where God is, because of the blood of Jesus. This is the fresh, new, life-giving way that Christ has opened up for us by tearing the curtain—his human body—to let us into the holy presence of God.” Hebrews 10:9-10 TLB

We remember again and again that its by His blood that we can now come into His presence. He has washed us of all our sin and made us pure and holy so that we can enjoy His presence.

Christ can now come into us. We are the Temples of the Living God. We are His House in which He wants to live. This truth will set you free, humble you and keep you focused on the things that really matter in life.

“Haven’t you yet learned that your body is the home of the Holy Spirit God gave you, and that he lives within you? Your own body does not belong to you.” 1 Corinthians 6:19

Paul reminds us again here of this truth. Have you forgotten? It all seems so unreal, so abstract from this modern secular age. The bible shows us that we can only draw from that which we become aware of. Have you learned this yet? Are you aware of this? If you haven’t then you’ll not reap the benefits of all that that He has done for you on the cross. That’s why its so important to come back to the cross again and again and remember those things that He accomplished for us.

The Father could have told us to do a little dance when we come together to remember Him by. Putting our arms out in the station of the cross and twirling around a few times. That would have been impressive. The trouble is us oldies would most likely fall over on the 2nd twirl.

No He wants us eat this bread and drink this cup to remember Him. This is a very intimate act that reminds us of how He has come into us. He is the bread of Heaven and when we eat this bread its being assimilated into our bodies becoming part of us. He reminds us of how the word, the bread of heaven becomes flesh and of how His cleansing blood has made this all possible.

How amazing is this that God wants to live in us?

I can imagine a Real Estate Agent taking the Father around the world to look for a House to live in. Showing Him magnificent structures next to the sea, Castles high on mountains and in fortresses deep in forests but He is not interested in any of them. He looks at you and I and says that He wants to live in us. The Real Estate Agent is taken aback and says. “You want to live there?” The Father says Yes and when I’m finished with them you’ll be amazed.

We can take this opportunity today to remind ourselves that Christ has come into us as we partake of communion.

“Christ in me the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27 Another translation says;

“Living within me is the Christ who fills us with and expectation of glory.”

Today we are amazed at modern technology. How we can now put into a mobile phone a computer that once took up an entire room. Do you realise that your mobile phones has 1 million times more ram in their memory than the computer that sent the Apollo 11 spacecraft to the moon? Its mind boggling. But even more mind boggling than that is the fact that the God of all the universe has come to live in us and He tells us to set our minds constantly on this truth.

“For in Christ there is all of God in a human body;  so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power.” Colossians 2:9-10

Are you aware of this? If I were the Devil I would work overtime to try and stop you realising this truth. For when you become aware of it you will become extremely dangerous to Him.

The more you become aware of the fact that Christ is living in you, you are filled with an expectation of glory. You begin to long to do the works Jesus did for its become part of your DNA.

Jesus said to Martha after Lazarus had died. Believe and you shall see the glory of God. What was the glory that she then saw? She saw her brother Lazarus raised from the dead after 4 days and the bible says that he ‘stinketh’. I love the KJV. With your awareness of Christ in you, you will not be able to stop longing for the glory of God.

Do this today in remembrance of all that He did for us. He has washed us and cleansed us and made us the righteousness of God in Christ, so that He can now come and live in us.

One translation says in Romans 8 that God now lives and breathes in us as surely as He did in Christ. How amazing is that? He goes on the say that if God has taken up residence in our lives we can hardly be thinking more of ourselves than of Him and that our bodies have become alive as His.

Don’t you know that you are His Temple His House? Do this today and remember that you are not your own you belong to Him.

There is a prophecy for the End Times in Haggai that says that the glory of the latter house will be greater than the former. It was referring to Solomon’s Temple that once was a magnificent structure, glorious and famous throughout the earth. It had been destroyed, but God was saying that there was going to be a more glorious structure greater than Solomon’s Temple and that was us His church for we will have Christ living and breathing in us. Amen

We are more glorious than Solomon’s Temple. Remind yourself of this amazing truth today as you partake of these emblems. Do this often and remember all that He has done for you.
