As a whole we Christians can be a selfish lot, mostly living and thinking for ourselves instead of others. We can live our lives always thinking, “What can I get out of this?” This may be acceptable in the world but its not the way God wants His Children to live. We are not to be like the Gentiles.
Matthew 6:31-34 “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, how shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for tomorrow: for tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
God wants us to be givers, servers and blessers for this is how we function best. Life is quite meaningless and empty unless you live for others for we are saved to serve.
Matthew 16:25 (KJV) “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”
It’s only when you lose your life in the service of God and others that you will really find yourself. If you hold on to your life and stay in your comfort zone you’ll never be satisfied. There is a way out and that is to give more of your life away.
Job 42:10 ”And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.”
God turned Job’s captivity when he took his eyes off his problem and looked at the big problem his friends were in. God was angry with them and they needed an intercessor. Job took on this task and not only were they spared but Job ended up being blessed with a double portion.
Do you want your life to be turned around, then take your eyes off yourself, your problems and your sin and start thinking of others? The easy way to start the process is to pray for others. (This includes your enemies.) Job’s friends weren’t exactly his best mates anymore.
The trouble is we don’t like praying much and would rather read the bible, books, or watch Christian TV. We also like to listen, talk, or go on Christian outings than pray. Prayer is too much like hard work.
Luke 18:1-6 “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;”
We don’t pray enough. If we are not praying then we will faint in these Last Days.
Prayer can be boring as we often run out of things to say, but its our life source and a channel of blessing. The Devil hates us praying and tries everything to stop us.
I thank God for the secret weapon we can have in praying in tongues, for I know that when I pray in tongues, “I’m praying the will of God.”
Romans 8:26-27 “Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
We have a wonderful gift in the Holy Spirit, by being able to pray in tongues for it gives us the ability to pray the will of God.
You can pray through the Church Directory in tongues or go through your mobile phone list. You can also pray in tongues over your ‘friends’ list on Facebook.
Once I was praying around the streets in tongues near my house and felt impressed to pray for a minister friend. I thought to myself that I must ring him when I got back and see how he is. When I got home the phone rang and he told me of a big problem he was having. I was praying the will of God.
The Church is God’s most valuable possession on this earth and He loves it dearly, for it’s His body. How much do you love your body? How much do you want your body to be blest?
God promised Job that if he prayed for others God would turn his captivity, and He’s our God too. Not only did God turn Job’s captivity but gave Him twice as much as he had before, and he was very rich before all these problems came along. God wants to bless you, not so that you will keep it all for yourself but for the needs of others too.
Job 42:10 ”And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.”
If you love God, then you need to love and pray for His Church, and God will bless you.
