“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:20

This is a very powerful proverb that confirms many other verses in the bible. If there is one thing that we have in our lives that is like God, it is that we can speak intelligent words that have power. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth with the power of His words, and it says that He made man in His image.

The bible says that we Christians are now part of a Royal Priesthood called to serve God. You couldn’t be a Priest or Levite in OT days unless you were from the Tribe of Levi, but ‘Praise God’ we are now part of the Royal Priesthood through our union with Christ and that includes the Priestly Tribe of Levi.

When the Children of Israel were dying from snakebites in the wilderness. Moses made a brazen serpent and lifted it up before the victims and all who looked at the snake on the pole were healed. Numbers 21:4-9

I have tried to imagine what the generation of Christians would look like, that did the ‘greater works’ spoke of by Jesus in John 14:12.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

This Christmas unwrap the present that the Father has given you. He has given you His Son, the Lamb of God as a gift. The Darling of Heaven. Christ is the unspeakable Gift who is far above anything else you have ever known or will ever receive in this life. Ask God to open your eyes to see who Christ is and all that He has done for you as you take communion this morning.
